Sam-ADOPTED!

Sam is a 3 year-old SharPei/Lab mix male who has had a really rough life. Oddly enough, his big break came when he arrived at a county dog shelter as a stray last fall. The poor guy arrived at the shelter in an emaciated state with skin and coat in horrible condition and nasty eye infections due to entropion (inverted eyelids) in both eyes. The shelter was not able to get him the medical attention that he needed so they asked us for help with him. Sam arrived shortly before Christmas and immediately started treatment to clear up the bacterial and fungal infections in his skin. Once healthy enough, Sam underwent surgery in February to correct his inverted eyelids. That surgery has made a world of different to him. He now is able to live a much better quality of life without having his eyelids constantly rubbing against his eyeballs. His photos were taken recently and show that he is now in great condition and ready to find himself a wonderful new home. Sam gets along well with other dogs but likely wouldn’t mind being a single dog so he could get all the attention that he never had in the past. He has excellent crate manners and should pick up the housetraining routine in his new home fairly quickly. Having been food-deprived in the past, Sam really looks forward to mealtime and is super food-motivated. Sam is a pro at catching treats on the fly! He will also sit on command and is eager to learn lots more in his new home. Sam will need more work on his leash manners as he hasn’t had much experience in that area yet. An EZ-Walk harness will help with his training. Sam can’t wait to experience how wonderful a dog’s life can and should be in his very own home. He weighs about 52 pounds and his adoption fee is $200. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. He had a recent dental cleaning at our vet and now flashes a pearly white smile. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Sam. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 4-5 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 24-48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
