This handsome little gentleman is Simon, a 1 year-old Chihuahua/Doxie/JRT mix (in other words, we don’t know for sure!). He is reminiscent of a mini-Cattledog too so is a true Heinz-57. Simon came into a rural county dog shelter as a stray with a wound on the top of his head. We don’t know what kind of trouble he ran into when out on his own but that is healing nicely now and won’t cause him problems in the future. Simon gets along well with other dogs of all sizes and has been very quiet and well-mannered in his foster home. He loves napping in his crate after playtime is over and keeps his crate spotless. He may be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee it. Simon trots along nicely on a leash and will make a great little hiking or walking pal for someone who wants an active but small dog. Simon weighs about 16 pounds and his adoption fee is $200. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Simon. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 4-5 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 24-48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
Simon-ADOPTED!

Simon is such a cutie. He definitely looks a lot like a daschund, with his cute little slim muzzle and face, but I have never seen a Doxie who is mostly black with the cutest white accents, like his pretty speckled chest and cute little white on the tip of his long slim tail! He liked to walk and he liked to make his presence known in Petco, as many little pups do. He loves to be petted and loved most of all. Little Simon is such a nice little guy and so sweet, and I know he will give boundless joy to the lucky family who comes to give him his loving forever home.
As a follow-up to the overnight at my house, he did great in his crate all night. He went in easily and went right to sleep. He didn’t cry or bark. He did not mess in his crate at all and went outside when my other dogs got me up this AM to go out, so 7-8 hours without incident. He both peed and pooped outside and no accidents when he had free run of the house. He enjoyed running around my yard. When a friend came to my door, he barked at first, but warmed up quickly once she came in and petted him. I only had him overnight but he made progress on learning how to sit for a treat and I’m sure he would master it with a little more practice. He seems to be much more relaxed in a home than he is at the adoption events at Petco as I know they can be stressful with all the activity. He’s a great dog overall.
Simon is at my house for an overnight foster. He’s a fast moving, affectionate, cuddly guy who likes to follow around his human friends. He seems to really like my female dog and wants her to play with him. He loves car rides and enjoyed his walk but would probably do better on a harness than a leash as he pulled a bit, but because he’s so small, he’s easy to manage. He knows to potty in the yard and on the walk and no accidents in the house yet. He loved running in my yard but I don’t think a fence is essential with him. After a busy day, he curled up on me for a nap and did ok in his crate although you could tell he’d prefer to be on his person’s lap.
Simon is a very sweet little boy. He likes to run and play but he likes snuggling with his human friends even more.
He is affectionate, gentle and calm – so he would make a perfect companion for someone very special. .
