Border Collie fans are going to love Calloway, a 1 year-old with great looks and a fantastic disposition to match. This sweet dog came into an overcrowded rural county dog shelter as a stray and was limping on one of his back legs. When he wasn’t claimed, the shelter reached us to us for help with him. Upon his arrival here, Calloway visited the vet clinic for x-rays which showed that he had an old break in one of his back legs. The break was close to the joint and since the injury was old, it had healed on its own leaving him with a permanent limp. He can still use that back leg although the joint has fused so the decision was made to leave the leg rather than amputate. Calloway gets around just fine but would do best in a home where he would receive moderate exercise. He wouldn’t be a candidate for long jogs or hikes. He gets along well with other dogs so would do fine in a home with another dog as long as that dog was on the calm, gentle side. Calloway has excellent crate manners and may be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee it. He can’t wait to experience how wonderful a dog’s life can and should be with a new family. Calloway weighs about 40 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Calloway. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
