Meet Ginger, an adorable 1 year-old Jack Russell Terrier/Feist mix female with pretty markings and a cute short tail. Ginger was adopted from a county dog shelter but returned after several weeks because her family wasn’t able to provide her with enough exercise. From there, she made the trip to Canine Lifeline so she would have more time to find the perfect new home. She is an active young dog and, even though she’s less than 20 pounds, Ginger is not a couch potato and likes to be busy. Ginger would be a great hiking buddy for someone who wants a small dog. She certainly has the stamina to keep up with dogs much bigger than she is. Ginger has done well with crate-training in her foster home so should pick up the housetraining routine in her new home readily. She gets along well with other dogs but hasn’t really wanted to play with them. She might be fine in a home as an only dog as long as her family has plenty of time to spend with her. Ginger knows the sit command and is very food-motivated. She’s very alert and focused on what’s going on around her. Given her energy and intelligence, she might enjoy agility training after she completes some basic obedience work. She met cats at the vet clinic but barked and lunged at them so should probably be in a kitty-free home. Ginger weighs about 16 pounds and her adoption fee is $200. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Ginger. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. All of our dogs come to us from county dog pounds so we have no history on them. We also have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 4-5 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 24-48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
