Maverick-ADOPTED!

We’ve never seen a dog quite like Maverick! This one of a kind 6 year-old Shepherd/Basset Hound mix male has the short legs and long body of a Basset coupled with the coloring and thick coat of a Shepherd. Adopt him and this silly boy is guaranteed to put a smile on your face each and every day! Maverick was surrendered to a county dog shelter by his owner. We don’t know what caused him to lose his home but ending up at the shelter was actually a lucky break for Maverick as he tested positive for heartworms there. Had he still been living with his owner who hadn’t protected him from heartworm disease, his life would have ended with a slow and painful death from heart failure. Thankfully, the shelter reached out to us for help with him and he made the trip to Canine Lifeline to get the lifesaving treatment that he needed. Maverick has been through heartworm treatment and done very well so is now ready to find himself a great new home. This guy has been an absolute delight in his foster home. He gets along well with his fellow foster dogs, has excellent crate manners, and may be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee it. He walks pretty well on a leash and is sure to turn heads in his new neighborhood when out for a walk. Maverick has a thick coat which will need regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best. His ears have been thickened from years of untreated ear infections but those have now been addressed and he’s feeling much better. Maverick weighs about 43 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, current on monthly heartworm preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Maverick. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.

Maverick’s heartworm treatment cost about $750. If you’d like to make a donation to help with his care so that we may save another dog in the future, please do so on our website at www.caninelifeline.org or by sending a check to Canine Lifeline, PO Box 25742, Garfield Hts OH 44125. Thank you from Maverick and Canine Lifeline!
