Sophie is a very happy and outgoing 2 year-old Lab/Pointer mix female who knows that the main goal in life should be to enjoy each day as if it might be your last. She had two strikes against her—homeless AND heartworm positive at an overcrowded rural county dog shelter before Christmas, when a good Samaritan saved her life and fostered her until she could find a rescue to help Sophie. Sophie came to us for lifesaving heartworm treatment which she had at the end of January. She has done so well and is now heartworm negative and ready to find the family of her dreams. Sophie is ALL puppy so a home with an active and energetic family who can keep up with her is on her wish list. She will need some obedience and leash training as it’s likely that no one spent much time working with her in the past. Sophie has excellent crate manners though so should be easy to housetrain once she moves into her new home. She loves playing with other dogs so would enjoy a home with another canine pal or two or regular trips to doggie daycare or the dog park. Sophie loves to play with toys of all kinds and prefers to stay busy. She wouldn’t be happy being alone for long workdays so a home with some of her family around a lot would make her happiest. Sophie weighs about 50 pounds and her adoption fee is $200. She’s spayed, current on monthly heartworm preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Sophie. An approved application is required before we set up meets with any of our dogs. Our dogs come to us from county dog pounds so we have no history on them. We also have no foster homes with small children so we aren’t comfortable placing any of them in homes with kids less than 4-5 years-old. We try to respond to inquiries within 24-48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
