Amara is a beautiful 2.5 year-old Mountain Cur/Boxer mix with a pretty brindle coat and little bobtail. She was found as a very underweight stray and, when she wasn’t claimed at the shelter, made the trip to Canine Lifeline so she could take her time finding the perfect new home. Upon arrival, it was apparent that Amara had an issue with one her back legs. An x-ray revealed that she had a metal rod in her left back leg which was apparently placed there at some point in the past to repair a previously broken leg. The rod was extending too far out of the bone and impacting the muscle so needed to be removed. The broken bone had healed well so once the rod was removed, Amara began feeling so much better and had a much greater mobility. She is beginning to develop more muscle in that previously broken back leg and is now ready to find herself a great new home. Given her history, Amara would do well in a home where she wouldn’t be expected to be a jogging buddy. Leash walks and short hikes are fine for her but running long distances would not be appropriate for her. Amara loves being around other dogs so would certainly enjoy having a playful canine buddy in her new home. She also loves people and enjoys sticking close to her human friends. Amara has not been a fan of her crate so a family who is home with her much of the time would definitely be to her liking. She enjoys toys of all kinds and is a very playful girl. Amara walks well on a leash with a harness and is going to enjoy exploring her new neighborhood along with her family. She may be housetrained although we can’t guarantee that she won’t have accidents in her new home as she gets used to the new routine. Amara weighs about 45 pounds and her adoption fee is $350. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Amara. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age.
