Belle-ADOPTED!

Belle is a beautiful 1 year-old Black Lab mix with some pretty white markings. She was living her life on a chain and sleeping in a dog house for the first year of her life. Fortunately, her owner came to the realization that this was not a good life for Belle so surrendered her to a shelter so she could find a better home. From the shelter, Belle came to Canine Lifeline so she could get used to indoor living in a foster home while searching for a permanent new home. As with many dogs who have lived at the end of a chain, Belle is shy and timid at first when meeting new people and can be apprehensive around new dogs too. She is as sweet as can be though and wants so much to trust people and make friends with humans. Belle now greets her foster mom with a big smile and wagging tail but it may take her a little while to warm up to new people. She has done very well with crate-training in her foster home so we expect she should be able to master the house rules without too much trouble. If there is another dog in her new home, she would likely be most comfortable with a calm, older neutered male who can show her the ropes and boost her confidence. We would like to see Belle have a yard with a secure aboveground fence so she doesn’t have to be on a tie-out ever again. Belle has been working on walking on a leash since coming to us as that is not something she had ever done before. She gets nervous in busy surroundings so would do best in a home in a quiet neighborhood or rural area. Busy urban or suburban settings would not be to her liking. She is going to blossom with a kind and patient person or family who can give her the time to adjust to her new life on her own terms. Belle weighs about 64 pounds and her adoption fee is $325. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Belle. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
