Benjamin is an adorable 8-10 year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix male who makes friends wherever he goes. He was found as a stray in a local county and was taken to the dog shelter to see if an owner could be located. Benjamin was found with a golf ball-sized tumor on his back foot as well as anal tumors so, when he wasn’t claimed at the shelter, it seems likely that he was abandoned. Fortunately, the shelter reached out to us for help with him so he could get the medical care that he needed. Benjamin had surgery to remove all of his tumors and, fortunately, pathology has indicated the anal tumors were benign; however, the growth on his foot presented as malignant (sarcoma). This type of tumor is generally not invasive but it can grow back, requiring additional surgeries.  Through all of his treatments,  Benjamin remains such a kind and gentle little guy. He gets along well with other dogs and loves snuggling up on his cozy bed for a nap. He will require an adopter who can care for his medical needs in the foreseeable future. His adoption fee is $125. Benjamin is neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped.

All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Benjamin. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 4-5 years of age.

We try to respond to inquiries within 48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Benjamin’s medical expenses have exceeded $1000. If you’d like to make a donation to help with his care so that we may save another dog in the future, please visit our website at to make an online donation or send a check to Canine Lifeline, PO Box 25742, Garfield Hts OH 44125.
