Looking for a little Velcro companion? That’s our Benji, an adorable 8 year-old Shih Tzu who’s just as kind and gentle as can be. This little guy was found as a stray in poor condition and made his way to the local shelter. He wasn’t claimed there so the shelter had him shaved due to excessive matting, had a dental cleaning done, and had his left eye removed. He had what appeared to be a congenital defect resulting in an under-developed small eye which seemed to be prone to infection so it was removed. Since he never had vision in that eye, he hasn’t missed a beat since it was removed. He made the trip from the shelter to Canine Lifeline so he could take his time finding the perfect new home. His photos were taken shortly after his sutures were removed so the hair on his face hasn’t had time to grow back in yet. This little guy absolutely loves people and makes fast friends with everyone he meets. He would be a great companion for a senior who is home most of the time and wants a little buddy to snuggle with. Benji is not a fan of a crate and prefers to be next to his people. When not on someone’s lap, he’s content to curl up at your feet. This little guy trots along so nicely on a leash—his little prance is sure to put a smile on your face. Benji gets along fine with other small dogs but we think he would be perfectly content as the only dog in his home provided his humans have plenty of time to spend with him. Although we can’t guarantee it, Benji may be housetrained and should be able to pick up the house rules quickly in his new home. This sweet and agreeable boy can’t wait to make himself at home with someone who’s going to make sure he gets only the very best care from here on out. Benji weighs about 11 pounds and his adoption fee is $150. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. He had a recent dental cleaning as well so now flashes a pearly white smile. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Benji. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under the age of 7 years. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
