Bernie is a very friendly and outgoing 1 year-old Boxer/Hound mix neutered male with a sweet face and loads of personality. This boy came into an overcrowded county dog shelter as a stray and, when he wasn’t claimed, made the trip to Canine Lifeline so he could take his time finding the perfect new home. Everyone who’s met Bernie has been impressed with his silly and goofy disposition. He acts like a clown in a dog suit and has oodles of charm and charisma. Bernie has truly never met a stranger—human or canine—and tries his best to make friends with everyone he meets. Sometimes his enthusiasm does get the better of him though as he does like to jump on people for attention and can be strong on the leash. He is a smart boy though who aims to please and does learn quickly. He will sit on command and takes treats very gently. Bernie loves to give lots of kisses to his human friends and seemed friendly with kitties too. He also loves toys of all kinds and will play all day long. Bernie came to us from the shelter with “happy tail” from constantly wagging his tail against a hard surface. The end of his tail was raw and bleeding and wouldn’t heal so we opted to have his tail amputated. His photos were taken before this occurred but Bernie now looks more like a Boxer with a docked tail. His adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Bernie. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
