Bowie is a very sweet and loving 1 year-old Mountain Cur mix male who has had a very rough time of it in his short life. According to the neighbor who rescued him, Bowie’s owners cut off part of his tail with a scissors at some point and kept him chained up outdoors since he was a puppy. The neighbor couldn’t stand to see Bowie in such misery so asked the owners to surrender him so that she could make sure he could find a good home and live a decent life. Bowie’s lucky break came when they agreed so from a miserable existence, Bowie lived in a foster home for a few weeks before he could make the trip to us to work on finding a loving forever home. In spite of the horrible life he was forced to endure, Bowie is the most kind, gentle, and loving dog you’re likely to meet—a true example of the resilience of dogs. He loves giving his human friends hugs and is grateful for every kind word and gentle pat that comes his way. Bowie also gets along well with other dogs and tries to get every dog he meets to play with him. He has had excellent crate manners since coming to us so we expect he should be able to pick up the house rules quickly in his new home. Bowie would excel with a canine companion who could show him the ropes but might also be fine as the only dog in the home provided his family has plenty of time to spend with him. He enjoys going for a walk and his leash manners will only improve with daily practice in his new home. We can’t wait to see this sweet dog living the wonderful life he deserves as a treasured  member of his new family. Bowie weighs about 40 pounds and his adoption fee is $350. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Bowie. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
