Cash is an adorable 1 year-old guy with a puppy face who was found as a stray and taken to a local shelter. When he wasn’t claimed, he made the trip to Canine Lifeline so he could enjoy life in a foster home while searching for a permanent new home. His breed mix is really anyone’s guess but we think he looks like a Yellow Lab/Corgi mix as he is on the shorter side. Cash arrived at the shelter about 15-20 pounds overnight. When he arrived at the shelter, it was found that he panicked when he was walked with a collar and a leash. He would spin around, flop over, and try to bite at the leash. It wasn’t clear if a leash was just something completely new to him or whether he had had bad experiences on a leash and was fearful of anything around his neck. We have seen that behavior from him and Cash does much better walking with a harness. He is going to need a home with a calm and patient owner who can work with him on his leash skills so that he can enjoy long walks and daily exercise to help him shed those extra pounds. We do want to place him in a home with a secure aboveground fenced yard so he can get off-leash exercise safely. Cash gets along very well with other dogs so would benefit from having a playful and confident canine buddy in his new home to walk with and keep him active. He has done very well in his crate in his foster home and may be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee it. This sweet dog is definitely a work in progress but he’s got loads of potential with direction and training from the right person or family. Cash currently weighs about 63 pounds but needs to lose about 15-20 pounds to be at his ideal weight. His adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Cash. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under the age of 7 years. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
