Cheez-It-ADOPTED!

Meet Cheez-It, one super-cute little 2.5 year-old Shih-Tzu/Chihuahua mix (born 1-16-18) male who always looks like he’s having a bad hair day! This little guy with the adorable underbite and snaggletooth came to us via a rescuer who saw a plea on social media for help with Cheez-It and his buddy Dusty. They had been purchased from a backyard breeder but their owner could no longer care for them so they needed a place to go. Cheez-It was very frightened when he first came to us. It took him about a week before he relaxed enough to let his foster mom pick him up. He’s now her best buddy but he will likely be frightened again as he moves to his forever home so will need a kind and patient person or family to allow him adjust his to new environment on his own terms. Cheez-It is very submissive with other dogs and Dusty can bully him a bit so he would probably be happier living without Dusty. Given his initial fearfulness, Cheez-It has been using pee pads in his foster home but is ready to start learning to do his business outdoors now that the weather is improving. He would enjoy having a yard with a secure aboveground fence so he could have fun safely exploring the great outdoors. Cheez-It weighs about 10 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Cheez-It. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
