Claire is a beautiful 1-2 year-old Border Collie/Mountain Cur mix female who, prior to coming to Canine Lifeline, spent her entire life living in a small outdoor pen. Her owner never let her out but would push a plate of food underneath the gate each day. Fortunately, her owner finally realized that she deserved better so reached out to a local rescuer for help with her. We were contacted to find a home for Claire so she made the trip to Canine Lifeline so she could enjoy indoor life while searching for a loving new home. As you can imagine, everything in the big wide world is new to Claire now that her horizon has gone beyond her small pen. She is a very friendly girl when meeting new people and seems to derive a lot of comfort from being close to her human friends. Understandably, Claire is frightened of many things as she had lived a very sheltered existence until the last couple of weeks. Loud noises and sudden movements cause her to jump. Claire seems to be very comfortable around other dogs so we do want to place her in a home where she will have a canine companion to boost her confidence and show her the ropes. She can keep up with rowdy young dogs but can also settle down nicely next to an older calm dog. Claire will need a home in a quiet neighborhood with a secure aboveground fenced yard to give her some security. Busy urban life would be much too frightening for her. Claire got used to a crate very quickly and has done well so should continue crate-training in her adoptive home while she learns the house rules. Walking on a leash has also been a new experience for Claire but she’s willing to learn and eager to please so with a little more confidence and a canine buddy to go with her, she will soon be walking like a pro. Claire is a true ‘rescue’ and will reward her kind and patient family with years of love and devotion. We can’t wait to see her living her life as a treasured family member. Claire weighs about 48 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Claire. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
