Clint is a 3-4 year-old Chihuahua mix male who was found as an underweight stray along with his pal Clyde. Both were taken to the local county dog shelter and when they weren’t claimed, they made the trip to Canine Lifeline so they could get lots of TLC in a foster home while searching for permanent new homes. Clint has very much of a puppy face and looks even cuter in person. He LOVES to eat and is close to his ideal weight now after having come into the shelter much too thin. He gets along with his fellow foster dogs and doesn’t seem particularly bonded with Clyde so they don’t need to be adopted together. He is working on crate-training and housetraining in his foster home and should continue both in his new home. As long as he gets outside every 4-5 hours during the day, he keeps his crate clean. Both Clint and Clyde can be a little shy meeting new people but they warm up quickly especially when offered yummy treats. Clint loves to be held and is going to make an outstanding little buddy for someone who loves small dogs. He weighs about 8 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Clint. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
Clint-ADOPTED!

This bright-eyed little cutie is such a doll. He loves attention and affection but he’s also a fun little guy. During a recent bath, he behaved beautifully and then proudly pranced around so everyone could see how handsome he is.
Although I generally tend to prefer bigger dogs, Clint is a special little dog who is very easy to love.
This special guy is just waiting for someone to love him.
PM Update from the weekend foster – he did great. No accidents in the house. He’s definitely a lap dog and likes to follow his person around. He did well around men and my big dogs. He was timid towards them. He never yapped and is doing much better with the leash walking. He doesn’t shed much but is not hypoallergenic. He did great in the car and also had a bath today and did really well for that. He’s such a sweet, loving, easy going little guy.
AM update – he did wonderful here last night. This guy actually loves his crate. I have a large crate as I sometimes foster larger dogs so he had lots of room, but he just went in right away and sat on the little dog bed. Even when he’s in the transport crate, he just goes right in. He’s sometimes a bit nervous to come out but he does eventually. He had no accidents all night from about 11pm to 7am. He did not make one peep, no cry or bark and I’ve not heard him bark yet. He went potty very well for me yesterday after eating and this AM. He’s a very sweet, low maintenance dog who would be great for someone looking for a less active, lap dog who loves to give kisses.
Just spent some time with Clint! He’s a little shy, but quickly warmed up to me, my husband & son. Much calmer than I’d have expected from a Chihuahua. If he wasn’t a shedder (my son has allergies) we all agreed he’d be the next family member.
I am fostering him for the weekend. He made great progress on walking on a leash. He did very well, first following another dog and then I was able to walk him on his own and he really didn’t bite it or try to get it off his neck as he did last week. He’s incredibly loving and loves to give kisses and tries to bury himself in your lap. He likes my dogs (my male is not very friendly so they are separated with him being in a crate). He is crying a bit as he wants to come out with the others but I’ve not heard him bark and he’s being very well behaved overall.
What’s cuddle bug. This little guy is shy and very scared. He needs someone to go slow and let him know the outside world is ok. He takes a bit of time to warm up but when he does, oh my, what a great lap dog. He loves being petted and cuddled. He needs training to walk on a leash and it almost seems like he was probably never walked in his prior life. It would be great if he gets a family for the holidays to show him that he’s worth a second chance at happiness.
