If you love Boxers, you’re going to love Darla, a lovely 3 year-old girl with an impressive underbite. She was turned into an overcrowded county dog shelter by her owners who could no longer keep her. Although the owners didn’t provide any information about this, the shelter felt that she had an old injury to her hips so asked us for help with her. Darla made the trip to Canine Lifeline and had x-rays upon arrival. It was found that she has an old pelvic fracture which had long since healed on its own. Her hips are very stiff and, although it’s not very noticeable initially, she does walk with a bit of a stiff gait. It doesn’t slow her down much though as Darla loves to go for walks and play with her friends. She gets along with the other dogs in her foster home as long as they’re not too rowdy. Darla was adopted briefly but returned to us because she did not want to share her new home or her people with another dog so she will need to be the only dog in her new home. She’s very kind and affectionate with her human friends and always has a big smile and full body wag for them. Darla has excellent crate manners and is likely to be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee it. She’s an expert ball player and will bring the ball back and drop it right at your feet for you to throw it again. Darla has gained weight since she’s been with us and is now at her ideal weight of about 49 pounds. Her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Darla. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
Darla-ADOPTED!
Posted in: Adopted!
Darla went with us on the Mutt Mingle hike today and she is a real trooper. She loves to walk and walks well on a leash. She is a beautiful dog who loves her human friends but can be particular with her dog friends…although she did great on our walk today with all the other ‘hikers’!
Darla did really well for me walking today. She did well on a leash and was just so happy to spend time with me. She liked being petted. She seemed to be pretty low energy for a boxer and a short walk seemed to be all she needed.
Darla is a beautiful, gentle girl! She is patient and waits her turn without barking. She walks well on a leash and loves to go on walks. She can be particular about dog friends, so needs, and wants to be an only dog so she can soak up all the attention without having to share. Darla will make a wonderful addition to the family lucky enough to adopt her!
Darla is a really sweet and funny girl. She loves going for walks and does well on a leash. She knows the “sit” command – and is especially compliant when there are tasty treats involved
Darla is also a lovable and affectionate dog who would be very happy to cuddle on the couch with her family.
This very nice dog is hoping to find the wonderful forever home she deserves.
Darla is such a fun and sweet dog. For her photos (above), she was pleasant and cooperative and happily wore the jewelry and bandannas.
Her full-body wag is adorable. She is a very good hugger and loves her human friends. She also walks well on leash.
Darla is a very nice girl who is waiting for a wonderful, caring person to give her the forever home she deserves.
