Meet Domino, a friendly 8 month-old Border Collie/Lab mix pup who loves life and certainly isn’t letting the fact that he was homeless at a rural county dog shelter get him down. We don’t know what circumstances led to him ending up in a shelter but it’s likely that he was largely left to fend for himself as he was very shy and had no idea what a leash was for when he first came to us. Domino is a quick study though and comes out of his shell quickly when he knows that someone wants to be his friend. After a few days of trying to get a handle on leash walking, Domino does quite well with it now. Although it’s likely that he may have spent much of his life living outdoors, he has done very well with crate-training in his foster home. He has not had a single accident in his crate and will run right to the door to go outside once he’s let out of his crate. Domino learns new routines quickly. It’s going to be a lot of fun for his new family to watch him relax and settle into his new home. His playful puppy personality will keep his family entertained. As he matures and learns lots of new things, Domino is going to become an outstanding companion. Domino LOVES playing with other dogs so we would like to see him go to a home where he will have a live-in canine pal. Domino weighs about 39 pounds now but will likely be about 50 pounds or so once full grown. His adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Domino. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
