Dozer is a fun-loving and friendly 1 year-old Beagle who was one of 19 Beagles kept as hunting dogs on a farm in KY. The owner recently contacted a local rescue for help with them as he could no longer care for them. That rescue reached out to us along with several others and all the dogs were able to move off the property into better lives. Four of them, including Dozer, came to Canine Lifeline. While Dozer was very shy at first, it hasn’t taken him long to let his hair down and start having fun in his foster home. He’s a curious pup who gets along well with other dogs and seems to enjoy meeting new people too. Dozer had lived his life outside but is adjusting nicely to the perks of indoor living. He has done well with crate-training in his foster and should continue that in his adoptive home. Dozer LOVES to eat and really looks forward to mealtime. His food motivation should be a real asset as he works on obedience training. A leash has been a new experience for Dozer but he’s starting to realize how much fun it is to go out for a walk. With some daily practice in his foster home, he should soon be walking like a pro. Since Dozer and his buddies lived in a rural area, surburban living will continue to be a steep learning curve for him as he gets comfortable with the sights and sounds of a more populated area. He will need a yard with a secure aboveground fence and would do best with another dog in the home to show him the ropes and boost his confidence in new situations. He’s so excited to experience how wonderful a dog’s life can and should be once he’s welcomed into his new family. Dozer weighs about 22 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Dozer. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under the age of 7 years. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
