Meet Gidget, a super-nice 8 year-old Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua mix female with really impressive ears. This lovely little lady was an owner surrender at an overcrowded county dog shelter. We don’t know what circumstances led her to lose her home but she has proven to be a dream dog in her foster home. When the shelter went to spay Gidget, they discovered that she had already been spayed but also found a large bladder stone which they removed. She is now on a prescription urinary diet for the rest of her life. Fortunately, she LOVES this food so it isn’t hard at all to keep her happy on this diet. Gidget gets along very well with other dogs although she hasn’t really wanted to play with anyone. She’d prefer to be snuggling with her human friends so she would probably be fine in a home as the only dog. She met the resident kitties at the vet clinic and showed no interest in them so should be able to live peaceably in a home with cats. Gidget is crate-trained, more than likely housetrained too (no accidents in her foster home), and has excellent leash manners. She’s the type of dog who’s likely to walk right into her new house and make herself at home. We have yet to hear her bark—she is very quiet, gentle, and well-mannered—as we mentioned, a real dream dog! Gidget weighs about 13 pounds and her adoption fee is $150. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Gidget. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
