Gracie is a beautiful 2 year-old Shepherd/Lab mix female with perhaps a little Border Collie in the mix too. She found herself homeless at a rural county dog shelter and was having difficulty finding a home due to chronic ear infections that her previous owner had left untreated. As a result, Gracie had a huge amount of scar tissue in each ear and the shelter vet said that her ears were the worst case they’d ever seen. The shelter sought a rescue for Gracie so she could receive the medical attention she needed. Gracie made the trip to Canine Lifeline and our vet agreed that her ears needed surgical attention. Gracie underwent a partial ear canal ablation followed by laser surgery to remove as much of the scar tissue as possible. Opening up her ear canals has dramatically increased her comfort level and she’s now able to live a much better quality of life. She will need to have her ears cleaned with an antibacterial/antifungal wash on a weekly basis but she’s used to that now and is very tolerant of it. Gracie gets along well with other dogs and is very friendly when meeting new people too. She has excellent crate manners and may be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee it. She walks nicely on a leash and would make a great walking or hiking buddy. Gracie’s a smart girl who’s eager to experience how wonderful a dog’s life can and should be with a new person or family who will see that she is never neglected again. Gracie weighs about 50 pounds and her adoption fee is $200. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Gracie. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. All of our dogs come to us from county dog pounds so we have no history on them. We also have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 4-5 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 24-48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Gracie’s vet bills cost about $1,000. If you’d like to make a donation for her care so that we may help another dog in need, please visit our website at to make an online donation or send a check to Canine Lifeline, PO Box 25742, Garfield Hts OH 44125. Thank you from Gracie and Canine Lifeline!
