Hammie is a very bright-eyed and alert 2 year-old guy with a bobtail who was found as a stray in a rural area and taken to the local county dog shelter. His breed mix is truly anyone’s guess—maybe some Chihuahua, Rat Terrier, or Feist in his DNA? While we can’t say for sure what’s going on in his family tree, we can tell you that this little pup is super-friendly and up for just about anything! He loves people, other dogs, and FOOD! Hammie loved having his photos taken and was interested in both the yummy treats and squeaky toys we were offering him. He knows the sit command and will sit in front of you for a treat without even being asked. Hammie can climb out of a 3 foot exercise pen without difficulty so will need a taller fence in his new home or to be kept on a leash when outside. He’s very people-focused so just wants to be near his friends. Once he bonds with someone (which doesn’t take long!), you’ve got a friend for life. Hammie is very athletic and has the makings of a great agility dog. Hammie does great in his crate and has had no accidents so should be easy to housetrain in his new home. He’s got plenty of spunk and will make a great walking or hiking buddy for someone who wants a pint-sized companion. Hammie weighs about 18 pounds and his adoption fee is $350. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Hammie. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
