Hondo-ADOPTED!

Hondo is a very handsome Husky with sky blue eyes who was adopted from a county dog shelter but returned there once his new family discovered that he was heartworm positive and they couldn’t afford the expensive treatment. From there, Hondo made the trip to Canine Lifeline so he would get the lifesaving treatment that he needs. The shelter estimated Hondo to be about 6 years-old but our vet suspects he’s more in the 2 year-old range. He started his two-month long heartworm treatment the week of December 12 and did fine so is now ready to find a great new home. Hondo did great during his two-month long recuperation period with cage rest and limited exercise. He’s now ready to start having some fun! Hondo is a very friendly boy–both with people and other dogs. In typical Husky fashion, he likes to “talk” to you and has the most interesting conversations with his human friends. Hondo has excellent crate manners so should pick up the housetraining routine quickly in his new home. Since he’s had limited exercise in the last two months, Hondo is raring to go and likes to pull hard on the leash as if he’s pulling a dog sled! He will need some training with an Easy Walk Harness to get that under control. Once he has time to blow off some steam, we have no doubt that Hondo will soon be walking like a pro. Hondo weighs about 60 pounds and his adoption fee is $200. He’s neutered, on monthly heartworm preventative, up-to-date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Hondo An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. All of our dogs come to us from county dog pounds so we have no history on them. We also have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 4-5 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 24-48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.  Hondo’s heartworm treatment cost about $650. If you’d like to make a donation to help with his care so that we are able to save another dog in the future, please do so on our website at www.caninelifeline.org or by sending a check to Canine Lifeline, PO Box 25742, Garfield Hts OH 44125. Thank you from Hondo and Canine Lifeline!
