Jake is a very handsome 2-3 year-old Heeler/Aussie mix with gorgeous markings, a long tail, and a beautiful thick coat. He was found as a stray with Jenny who is thought to be his littermate. The pair was taken to the local county dog shelter but no one came to claim them. From there, they made the move to Canine Lifeline so they could take their time finding perfect new homes. While Jake and Jenny get along very well, they do not need to be adopted together. Jake has done well meeting other dogs since coming to us. He’s also very friendly with people but his desire for attention often leads him to jump on people. We have been working with him so that he begins to realize that all good things come to dogs who keep all four paws on the ground. This is a work in progress and he will need to continue obedience training in his new home. Jake is also learning about leash manners and would probably do best with a harness as he’s gaining more experience. He has kept his crate spotless in his foster home so might be housetrained although we can’t guarantee it. Both Jake and his sister Jenny are smart dogs who are eager to learn. They both need active families who’ll make sure they get both the physical exercise and mental stimulation they need each day. Jake weighs about 41 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Jake. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
