If you love scruffies, you’re going to love our boy Jake! This 5 year-old Terrier mix was surrendered to a shelter by his elderly owner who found that he was too energetic for her. She was constantly tripping over him so thought it best that Jake find a new home where he could live a more active lifestyle and get the daily exercise he needed. From the shelter, Jake made the trip to Canine Lifeline so he could enjoy life in a foster home while searching for a great new home. Jake is a very happy and sociable dog who has gotten along well with everyone he meets, both canine and human. He is a bit on the chubby side at 43 pounds so definitely needs a home where he will get regular daily exercise and lots of playtime to help him shed that extra 5-10 pounds he’s carrying. Jake occasionally holds up his right front paw so we had his leg x-rayed. X-rays showed an old break in that front leg which had long ago healed on its own. There’s nothing to be done about it at this point and it really doesn’t slow him down much. Getting him down to his ideal weight will certainly help increase his comfort level on that leg. Jake has had excellent crate manners in his foster home and with some patient and consistent direction on the part of his new family, should soon be able to master the house rules in his new home. He’s going to be an outstanding companion for an active person or family who’s committed to getting him back to his healthy weight with more exercise and fewer snacks. His adoption fee is $325. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Jake. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
