Meet Jake, a very handsome 1 year-old long-legged Lab mix male who came into a shelter as a stray. He was very frightened there so once his stray hold was up, he went into a local foster home until he could make the trip to Canine Lifeline to work on finding a home that was a great fit for him. Although he’s a young dog, Jake acts like an old soul. He’s very quiet, mellow, and has been on his best behavior since he arrived here with us. Jake gets along well with other dogs but hasn’t been one to roughhouse and engage in crazy play with others. If there’s a canine buddy in his new home, he might prefer one who’s a little older and on the calm side. When Jake was pulled from the shelter, he had no idea about walking on a leash but he does very well now. He tends to stick close to his handler looking for reassurance that he’s doing the right thing. Jake has had excellent crate manners in his foster home so we expect he should be able to pick up the house manners in his new home without too much trouble. Given his initial shyness, Jake would do best in a home that has a yard with a secure aboveground fence to keep him safe at home. This sweet boy is looking forward to finding a new home where he can truly relax and enjoy his life. Jake weighs about 48 pounds and his adoption fee is $350. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized.
