Jet

Your heart really goes out to this sweet 9 month-old Retriever/Border Collie mix boy. Jet is as kind and gentle as they come but doesn’t really know what to make of all the changes in his life over the last few weeks. He ended up homeless at an overcrowded county dog shelter and make the trip from there to Canine Lifeline so he could relax in a foster home while searching for a permanent new home. We don’t have any history on his pre-shelter life but it seems that just about everything in the world is new to Jet. His foster mom doesn’t think he lived in a home before coming to us as indoor life seems to be completely new to him. While he gets along well with other dogs, he hasn’t felt comfortable enough to play with them yet. He prefers to sit on the sidelines and observe at this point. Walking on a leash is also a completely new experience for Jet. He will walk along with another dog but if he’s by himself, he doesn’t seem to have the confidence to go it alone yet. Jet is working on crate-training and housetraining in his foster home and will need to continue both in his new home. He will need a kind and patient family who will give him the time he needs to adjust to his new surroundings and learn how wonderful a dog’s life can and should be. Jet is very loving and enjoys cuddling with his human friends. He has a gorgeous long wavy/curly coat and seems to enjoy being groomed. He will do best in a quiet home with a yard with an aboveground fence to keep him safe. Having a calm canine buddy to help show him the ropes would also be of great benefit to Jet. We know it’s just a matter of time before he feels comfortable enough to let his guard down and become that playful puppy hiding behind this shy exterior. Jet weighs about 52 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Jet. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
