Magic

Magic is a very handsome 3 year-old Collie mix male who found himself homeless at a rural county dog shelter along with his brother Monroe. We don’t know what circumstances led to these two boys being without a home but they both made the trip to Canine Lifeline so they could relax in a foster home while they searched for permanent new homes. Unbeknownst to us, we found out when they arrived that Magic and Monroe do NOT like each other. Sibling rivalry to the max here and if they could talk, we can imagine they would tell each other they hoped to never see each other again as long as they live! Needless to say, they cannot go to the same home. Magic can also be particular about which other dogs he likes—some he seems OK with, others he doesn’t like—so it would be best for him to go to a home where he will be the only resident dog. He’s very attentive and affectionate with his human friends so we think he would love to have all of the attention for himself and not have to share it with another dog. He would also do best in a home with an aboveground fenced yard. Magic had likely never walked on a leash before coming into the shelter but he is doing much better in that area. He likes to stick close to his human friends when walking so has a tendency to get a little too clingy. That will likely improve over time as he gains more experience. Magic does know the sit command and will happily show you if you have a treat for him. He has an excellent crate manners in his foster home so is likely to pick up the housetraining rules quickly in his new home. Magic is eager to experience how wonderful a dog’s life can and should be when he finds his perfect new home. Magic weighs about 46 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized.
