Marigold-PENDING

Meet Marigold, 1 year-old Beagle who was one of 19 Beagles kept as hunting dogs on a farm in KY. The owner recently contacted a local rescue for help as he could no longer care for them. That rescue reached out to us along with several others and all the dogs were able to move off the property into better lives. Four of them, including Marigold, came to Canine Lifeline. Marigold is a painfully shy dog who has been very frightened to leave the only life she’s ever known—an outdoor pen with a doghouse and a number of other Beagles. While there isn’t a mean bone in her body, she is still very wary of people and is going to require a very patient and kind adopter who can give her lots of time to adjust to her new surroundings on her own terms. Marigold will need to be in a home with another dog who is calm and confident and will be able to show her the ropes. She will also need a home with a yard that has a secure aboveground fence. These two conditions are essential for her and applications for her without these will not be considered. Marigold is going to be a longer term project than many rescue dogs so her adopters should be prepared for a long road with her. She has been getting used to a crate in her foster home and all the sights and sounds of indoor living. Marigold hasn’t tried to walk on a leash yet as that is just too scary for her at this time. Marigold will need a home in a very quiet neighborhood as busy city and suburban sounds would certainly be very frightening for her. Time and patience are the keys to letting Marigold realize how wonderful a dog’s life can and should be and we look forward to seeing her get that chance with a special person or family. Marigold weighs about 18 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Marigold. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under the age of 7 years. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
