Mika is a very handsome 2 year-old Border Collie/Hound mix male who found himself homeless at an overcrowded rural county dog shelter and made the trip to Canine Lifeline so he could take his time finding the perfect new home. While we don’t have any history on his life before he got to the shelter, we’ve found this boy to be very sweet and loving. He gets along great with other dogs and loves to wrestle and play chase in the snow with his fellow foster buddies. He would certainly enjoy having a canine buddy in his new home and a yard with a secure aboveground fence so he could play to his heart’s content. Mika is a little bit shy and nervous in new situations. He looks to establish a new routine very quickly and once he settles into that, he does very well. Mika keeps his crate spotless so ought to be pick up the house rules quickly in his new home. He can be a little scattered on the leash right now so will need a strong handler and some daily practice as he works on his leash skills. This boy is so worth the effort though as he appreciates all the kindness that comes his way. He’s truly going to blossom in a loving home with his new family. Mika weighs about 43 pounds but needs to gain a few more to reach his ideal weight. His adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Mika. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.

Mika is a very good looking dog who has a great temperament and is responsive to any gentle touch or kindness.
He is a bit timid initially but he has experienced many changes in his young life, so he doesn’t know what to expect. But once he understands that you are kind, he will welcome your attention and be eager to please. With consistent training and some patience, his leash manners should improve.
With that extra effort, Mika could be an outstanding and loving member of the family.
Mika is a wonderful dog. He will warm up to you quickly like he did to me. He was pretty good on the leash for a stray, with just a bit of pulling. He is a fine looking dog and has a sweet disposition.
