Pomeranian lovers, meet Opie! This dapper little 4 year-old gentleman was surrendered to a county dog shelter by his owner who just didn’t want him anymore. Apparently, someone had given Opie to her and she didn’t have time to work with him on housetraining. We don’t have any specifics on his background or on how many different homes this little guy has had in his life but we didn’t want to see him passed around again so he made the trip to Canine Lifeline so he could take his time finding his true forever home. Opie is definitely yearning for some stability in his life. He LOVES people and bonds very quickly to his humans. He also does fine with other dogs so might do well with a small canine buddy in his new home to help show him the ropes. He will need a lot of supervision in his new home to make sure that he gets the housetraining routine down. Opie has done well with crate-training in his foster home and should continue that in his new home. That, along with consistent, positive direction on the part of his new family, should help him make the adjustment to his new environment. Opie is not a fan of hot, humid weather and has much more energy now that we’re getting some cooler days. He was doing some zoomies out in the play yard today with his little canine buddies which was the first time we’ve seen that. Opie does pretty well on a leash and would enjoy short walks around his new neighborhood along with plenty of snuggle time. He weighs about 9-10 pounds and his adoption fee is $325. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Opie. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
