Oreo is a sweet 2.5 year-old Shih Tzu/Poodle mix male whose owner no longer had time for him so he finds himself looking for a new home. His world has been understandably turned upside down so Oreo is a little shy right now and uncertain of all the change in his life. Once he feels comfortable with someone though, he is very affectionate and seeks out attention from his human friends. He enjoys being a lap dog and will soak up all the love and affection he can get. Oreo has done well meeting other dogs since coming to us. He enjoyed playing with our adoptable puppy Charlotte so might enjoy having a canine buddy in his new home. He does well in a crate and should be able to pick up the housetraining rules quickly in his new home. Given his shyness, he might do best in a quiet home with adults who can give him the time and space he needs to feel comfortable in a new environment. He was left alone for very long hours in his previous home so we do want to place him in a home where his family will have lots of time to spend with him and he won’t be left alone for long workdays. Oreo walks nicely on a leash and would enjoy exploring his new neighborhood with his new family. He has visited the groomer regularly and will need to continue with consistent grooming in his new home so that is a commitment his new owner will need to make. Oreo weighs about 11 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Oreo. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under the age of 7 years. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
