Scruffy dog lovers, meet Oscar! This handsome 2 year-old Terrier/Lab mix boy found himself homeless at an overcrowded county dog shelter and made the trip to Canine Lifeline so he could his take his time finding the perfect new home. While we have no history on him prior to his time at the shelter, we have found Oscar to be a very friendly, outgoing dog. He gets along well with other dogs but we have yet to see him engage in wrestling games with others. Oscar seems to prefer the companionship of people and is eager to soak up all of the love and affection he can get. He has had excellent crate manners in his foster home so may be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee it. Oscar is a smart, eager to please kind of guy who picks up new routines quickly. Oscar has the sit command down pat so much so that when he was in the room while we were working with another dog on sit, every time he heard us say the word he would immediately sit in anticipation of a treat. Smart boy! He also will shake hands and can catch treats on the fly with ease. We think with his smarts that he should be able to make a smooth transition into his new home. Oscar does pull some on a leash so might do best with an Easy Walk Harness as he gains more experience and works on his leash manners. With daily practice, we’re sure that Oscar will soon be walking like a pro. Oscar weighs about 35 pounds but he has long legs and looks a bit bigger than that. His adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Oscar. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under the age of 7 years. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
