Owen is a very sweet and loving 1-2 year-old Lab mix male who had a rough start in life but isn’t letting that get him down. Owen and his brother Shelton were two of many dogs who were rescued from a hoarding situation by the local county shelter. The shelter was impressed with what sweet dogs these were in spite of having been largely neglected all of their short lives. Unfortunately but not surprisingly given their lack of care, both tested positive for heartworms making it virtually impossible for them to find new homes at the local shelter. Canine Lifeline was contacted for help and they both made the trip to us so that they could get the lifesaving treatment that they needed. Owen did very well through his heartworm treatment and now is ready to start the next chapter of his life with a new family. This boy is such a nice dog! He often flashes a cute grin when he sees his human friends, although he wouldn’t do it for the camera. Owen has excellent crate manners, gets along beautifully with other dogs including his brother Shelton, and is going to make an outstanding companion for one very lucky person or family. Owen weighs about 37 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, current on monthly heartworm preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Owen. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.

Owen’s heartworm treatment cost about $750. If you’d like to make a donation to help with his medical expenses so that we may help another heartworm positive dog in need, you may do so on our website at www.caninelifeline.org or by sending a check to Canine Lifeline, PO Box 25742, Garfield Hts OH 44125. Thank you from Owen and Canine Lifeline!
