Poppy-ADOPTED!

Poppy is a gorgeous 1.5 year-old Collie who was surrendered to a partner rescue along with her buddy Calista by a backyard breeder who, fortunately, no longer had time for the dogs. The rescue reached out to us for help with them and both girls made the trip to Canine Lifeline to receive the medical attention they needed and to find perfect new homes. The day they arrived, both dogs were frightened and had no idea how to walk on a leash. Poppy acted like a wild horse and when she wasn’t flailing around, she would flatten on the ground and refuse to move. Amazingly, with some yummy treats and a kind voice, it only took about 24 hours before both girls figured out the leash and after a week, they’re now walking like pros. They don’t pull hard and tend to stick close to their handler for encouragement and praise. While they have had excellent crate manners since coming to us, we can’t guarantee that they are housetrained and prospective adopters must be willing to work with them in that area. Both girls have had pups in the past but those days are behind them as they are now spayed. The transformation in these dogs in just a week has been remarkable. They LOVE other dogs and have had so much fun playing chase, tug-of-war, and wrestling with some other Canine Lifeline adoptable dogs. It’s been wonderful to see them relax and act like puppies given the rough life each has led to date. They do not need to be adopted together but we would like to place each one in a home with a playful canine buddy as well as a yard with a secure aboveground fence. Poppy’s long coat will require regular grooming to keep her looking and feeling her best. Poppy weighs about 55 pounds and her adoption fee is $350. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Poppy. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
