Meet Portia, a very pretty 9 month-old Retriever mix female who ended up at an overcrowded county dog shelter along with her siblings Frieda and Chevy. We don’t know why all 3 ended up at the shelter but suspect that they were part of someone’s unwanted litter who they couldn’t find homes for so all ended up at the shelter when they got big. Portia is as sweet as she is beautiful. For a young dog, she’s got a very mild-mannered demeanor and isn’t a hyper puppy who always needs to be on the go. She enjoys playing with other dogs but settles down nicely in a crate once playtime is over. We think she’ll be able to pick up the house rules quickly in her new home. For a youngster, she walks quite nicely on a leash. Portia will excel at an obedience class with her new family and is sure to impress everyone she meets with her kind, gentle disposition. Portia weighs about 30 pounds currently and we expect she’ll be 40-50 once full-grown. Her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Portia. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
