Queenie

Queenie is a little 9 month-old Golden Retriever mix who was abandoned on someone’s property in a rural area along with 4 other dogs including Quinn who was thought to her her sister. The dogs were taken to the local shelter and when they weren’t claimed there, both Queenie and Quinn made the trip to Canine Lifeline so they could relax in a foster home while searching for their permanent new homes. Queenie is an extremely shy girl who doesn’t know what to make of all that’s happened to her in the last weeks. There isn’t a mean bone in her body but everything is new to her and she hasn’t figured out how to deal with that yet. She is going to need a kind and patient person or family to give her the time and space she needs to adjust to her new surroundings. Queenie gets along well with other dogs so would likely benefit from sharing her new home with a confident canine buddy who can show her the ropes. She doesn’t understand what a leash is for so flattens on the ground whenever a leash is put on her. Fortunately, she’s quite small so is easy enough to pick up at this point as she gets used to leash-walking. Queenie has been good in her crate in her foster home and that has been her safe space. Given her shyness, she is going to need a home that has a yard with a secure aboveground fence. We’re certain she’s going to blossom when she feels secure in the love of her new family. Queenie weighs about 31 pounds currently and may be 35 pounds or so at her ideal weight. Her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized.
