Riley-ADOPTED!

Riley is a gorgeous 4-5 year-old Collie/Retriever mix male who was found as a stray along with another Collie mix (Ranger) who was thought to be his brother. Although their coats were matted and dirty when found, both dogs were at a healthy weight so the rural county shelter was surprised when no one came forward to claim them. After their stray hold was up, both Riley and Ranger made the trip to Canine Lifeline to gets lots of TLC and work on finding great new homes. Within a day of their arrival, both made a trip to the groomer for a much needed spa day. While both dogs were very frightened and unsure of what was happening, they did well with the groomer and now have beautiful shiny coats as seen in their photos. Riley is a shy dog who will need a kind and patient family to give him the time he needs to adjust to his new life. Having likely lived in a rural area, he is frightened of urban and suburban noises that we take for granted. He would be most comfortable in a quiet home in a rural area or low-key suburb where he can relax and enjoy life. Given his shyness, Riley will need a home with a yard that has a secure aboveground fence to keep him safe at home. Riley has done well meeting other dogs and does need a home with a calm, confident canine buddy to show him the ropes. Leash walking has been a new experience for Riley but he is getting the hang of it and with some daily practice will get soon be very comfortable with it. He does like to flop over for a belly rub mid-walk but is otherwise doing very well. He has done well with crate-training in his foster home and seems to view the crate as a safe and secure place so will need to continue that in his adoptive home. Riley weighs about 51 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized.
