Meet Rooney, a sweet chubby 3 year-old Doxie/Chihuahua mix spayed female with beautiful blue eyes who was surrendered to a county dog shelter by her family who could no longer keep her. We don’t know why she lost her home but her family was apparently killing her with kindness as Rooney arrived at the shelter very overweight. She currently weighs about 21 pounds and is working on getting down to her ideal weight of 12-15 pounds. It’s no fun for Rooney to be so heavy so she is eager to get in shape with a healthy diet and exercise plan so that she can be much more active and participate in lots of fun adventures this summer. Rooney gets along well with other dogs so would probably enjoy having a canine pal in her new home to help keep her busy. She is doing well on crate-training in her foster home so should be able to pick up the house rules quickly in her new home. Rooney is a delightful girl who is going to be so grateful to the person or family who can give her the wonderful life she deserves. Her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Rooney. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
