Roscoe is an energetic, affectionate, and very exuberant 18 month-old Newfoundland mix male who is one giant puppy. He was a recent owner surrender at a county dog shelter and, although we don’t know what caused him to lose his home, we suspect that his size and rambunctious nature might have proven to be too much for his previous family. Roscoe doesn’t have a mean bone in his body but hasn’t had much of any obedience training to date-although he will sit and lie down for a treat–so will need someone with the time and patience to work with an overgrown puppy. He thinks of himself as a lap dog and enjoys being very close to his human friends. He can play rough though and doesn’t seem to appreciate how big he is as he throws his weight around as he plays. Roscoe is dog-friendly but would need a canine companion who could match his energy level. He will need a home with a secure above-ground fenced yard and someone who has experience with giant breeds including the accompanying drool and grooming that goes with the territory. Roscoe is sure to be a fantastic companion for someone who has the time and energy to help this boy channel all of that puppy exuberance in a positive direction. He is available for adoption to a local northeast OH home only. Roscoe weighs about 125 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Roscoe. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
