Ruthie is a very spunky and opinionated 1 year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix female who was found as a stray and taken to the local shelter. She was very frightened there and wary of trusting new people. She made fast friends with some of the shelter staff but remained cautious of others. Given her fearfulness, it was going to be very difficult for Ruthie to be adopted at the shelter so she came to Canine Lifeline so she could take her time finding the right home for her. Ruthie was initially very nervous when she arrived here but now that she’s been in her foster home for a few weeks, she’s settled down and is getting to know our volunteers and our routine. Once Ruthie makes friends with someone, she’s your best buddy and extremely loyal. She will likely be frightened at first as she transitions to a new home so she will need a home with adults only who can give her the time and space she needs to adjust to her new surroundings. Ruthie has done well with crate-training in her foster home and will need to continue that in her adoptive home. She loves going for walks and definitely has the energy and spunk to keep up with the big dogs. Ruthie has been friendly with all dogs she’s met since coming to us but doesn’t really pay much attention to them. She would likely be fine as the only dog in the home provided her humans have plenty of time to spend walking, playing with her, and training. This girl can be quite vocal when things aren’t going her way so wouldn’t be a good fit for apartment, condo, or townhouse living. Ruthie weighs about 16 pounds and her adoption fee is $325. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Ruthie. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
