Salem-ADOPTED!

If you’re looking for a dog who likes to be on the go and has the energy to be a jogging buddy, take a look at Salem. This 2 year-old Border Collie mix girl is a very active young dog who came into an overcrowded county dog shelter as a stray. As a result, we don’t have any history on her but she will definitely need a home with someone who understands the needs of her breed mix. Salem does get along well with other dogs but hasn’t really engaged in play with her fellow foster dogs yet. She’s a very affectionate girl with people and is likely to form a quick and strong attachment with her new family. She met the resident kitties at the vet clinic and had no adverse reaction to them upon initial meeting so might be OK living with cats. Given her breed mix though, she may decide to chase or herd them if they run. Salem will need additional work on obedience training as well as on the leash as it seems that has been limited to date. She does know how to sit for a treat though so has had a start. She’s bright-eyed, alert, and ready for lots of adventures with her new family. Salem is not a fan of her crate so would really prefer a home where her family is around much of the time. She will likely need a little work on housetraining so someone who can get her out every four hours or so during the day would be ideal. The sky’s the limit for this girl. She just needs someone to be as devoted to her as she will be to them.  Salem weighs about 31 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Salem. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
