Scarlet is a very friendly and outgoing 4.5 month-old Shepherd/Hound mix female with really long legs and tail. She found herself homeless at an overcrowded county dog shelter so made the trip to Canine Lifeline so she would have more time to find the perfect new home. We don’t have any history on her life before she came into the shelter but she has been a typical fun-loving, social girl since the minute we met her. She has never met a stranger and thinks every person or dog ought to be her best friend. Scarlet LOVES playing chase and wrestling with other dogs so would really enjoy having a canine pal in her new home. She is working on crate-training and housetraining in her foster home and will need to continue both in her new home. As a pup, she needs to go out at least every four hours during the day so wouldn’t be a good match for someone who works long days and/or is out of the house for long stretches. Scarlet is very food-motivated so should be easy to train. She is already learning that all good things come to pups who keep all four paws on the ground and that jumping on people doesn’t achieve positive results. That’s still a work in progress and her new family will need to continue obedience training with her. Scarlet weighs about 25 pounds currently but we expect she’ll be 50-60 pounds once full-grown. Her adoption fee is $350. She’s spayed, on monthly heartworm preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Scarlet. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
