Meet Scooter, a sweet 11 month-old Heeler mix neutered male with beautiful markings and a fantastic disposition. He was surrendered to an overcrowded county dog shelter by his owner who could no longer care for him. We don’t know what circumstances caused Scooter to lose his home but he seems to have been well cared for in the past. He makes fast friends with both people and other dogs. Scooter has excellent crate manners and is likely to be housetrained although we can’t guarantee it. We do think he will be able to pick up the house rules quickly in his new home. Scooter loves wrestling and playing chase with other dogs so a playful canine companion in his new home who can match his play energy would be ideal for him. He would also enjoy spending time at doggie daycare where he could make lots of new friends. Scooter walks surprisingly well on a leash for a youngster and will making a great walking buddy. He loves to snuggle with his human friends and is ready to shower his friends with lots of kisses. Scooter will sit for a treat on command. He seems to be a quick study so working with him on obedience should be a pleasure. Scooter also loves toys of all kinds and enjoys riding in the car. He met the resident kitty at the vet clinic and seemed nice with her–no aggression exhibited at all. This phenomenal dog is going to make an outstanding companion for one very lucky person or family. Scooter weighs about 26 pounds but is thin and will likely be about 30 pounds once he’s at his ideal weight. His adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Scooter. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under the age of 7 years.
