Scotch is a very friendly and outgoing 1.5 year-old Lab/Shepherd mix neutered male with maybe a little Border Collie in the mix too. This guy was living in an outdoor pen in KY with Midnight a few weeks ago when the arctic cold snap came through. Scotch and Midnight would have frozen to death outside without any significant shelter so fortunately, their owner contacted a local rescuer for help finding new homes for them. They were immediately moved to a warm indoor boarding kennel until they could make the trip to Canine Lifeline to work on finding permanent new indoor homes. As you can probably gauge by the big smile on his face, Scotch is a very sweet dog. He gets along well with other dogs and has been very friendly with people since he arrived here with us. He was very happy to snuggle up with his handler during his photo session and relished all the attention he was receiving while his pics were being taken. Scotch has had excellent crate manners in his foster home so, in spite of having lived outdoors previously, he seems to be willing and able to get a handle on indoor house manners quickly. Scotch does need some work on his leash manners but he’s a very smart dog and very food-motivated so working with him on obedience and leash skills should be a rewarding experience. We can’t wait to see this sweet and loving dog living his best life in his new home. Scotch weighs about 60 pounds and his adoption fee is $325. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Scotch. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age.
