This beautiful 2 year-old Border Collie/Retriever mix girl is Shelby. She came to us as a stray from an overcrowded rural county dog shelter so we don’t have any history on her life before she came into the shelter. Shelby was quite shy when she first arrived and was a little intimidated by the camera too for her photo shoot. Now that she’s been with us for a few weeks, Shelby is becoming much more relaxed and starting to let her true playful personality emerge. She is a very sweet dog who has been kind and gentle with all people that she’s met. She also has been good with every other dog she’s encountered and now that she’s feeling more comfortable, is starting to play tug and chase with her fellow foster dogs. Shelby is working on crate-training and housetraining in her foster home and will need to continue both in her adoptive home. With patience and consistency on the part of her new family, she should be able to master the house rules quickly. Shelby is a quiet girl who has yet to bark in her foster home. She is a delightful girl who is sure to blossom in her new home and provide her new family with many years of love and devotion. Shelby weighs about 33 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email if you’re interested in Shelby. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
