Shelby-ADOPTED!

Shelby is a very kind and gentle girl who really tugs at your heartstrings. This beautiful 6 year-old Aussie was a heartworm-positive stray with no future at a high-kill county dog shelter. We were notified about her plight and immediately offered to take her and get her the life-saving treatment that she needed. Shelby arrived here in May and was found to be just skin and bones under her long coat. She had a thorough exam at our vet and when blood work and x-rays all came back normal, she was able to start heartworm treatment after a few weeks of TLC in her foster home. Shelby is an absolute gem of a dog. She gets along well with other dogs but prefers her canine companions to be on the calm and quiet side. She doesn’t enjoy being around rough and rowdy dogs. Shelby is extremely affectionate with her human friends and forms new attachments quickly. She would love a home where she could gets lots of love and attention from her very own humans. Shelby loves to snuggle and will soak up all the affection she can get. She also walks nicely on a leash and will make a great walking companion for someone who wants a calm dog. Shelby has excellent crate manners so should pick up the house rules quickly in her new home. She has beautiful markings including on her back legs which look as if she’s wearing socks. Shelby is still thin, weighing about 35 pounds now, and will need to gain 5-10 more to be at her ideal weight. Her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, current on monthly heartworm preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Shelby. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.

Shelby’s heartworm treatment cost about $750. If you’d like to make a donation to help with her care, please do so on our website at www.caninelifeline.org or by sending a check to Canine Lifeline, PO Box 25742, Garfield Hts OH 44125. Thank you from Shelby and Canine Lifeline!
