Meet Sonny, a very active and energetic 9 month-old Terrier mix who’s all puppy. He was saved from a high-kill county dog pound by a neighboring humane society and from there made the trip to Canine Lifeline so he would have more time to find a new family. We don’t have any history on Sonny but someone must have worked with him in the past as he does know the sit command. He also has excellent crate manners for a youngster so may be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee it. Sonny is no couch potato and is going to need a family who has the time and energy for a young dog. He gets along well with other dogs so would benefit from having another playful pup in his new home to keep him occupied. Sonny would benefit from attending an obedience class with his new family so all of that puppy energy can be channeled in a positive direction. Sonny weighs about 27 pounds and his adoption fee is $200. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Sonny. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 4-5 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
Sonny-ADOPTED!

I worked with Sonny again today. I let him out in the yard for about 20 minutes to sniff around and work off some energy. He’s still very energetic but then I took him for a walk. He did much better on his walk and stopped jumping on me and walked well on a leash. He’s doing better with staying down. He’s just very energetic and needs the time to get some of the energy out of his system. Once he was a bit tired, he enjoyed being petted for a bit as well.
Sonny and I spent some time together today. Initially, he was super excited and energetic. But, what I learned about Sonny is that he is truly a love bug pup. He will need work and patience with training, but potential is certainly there. Keeping “four on the floor” and walking on a leash are 2 things he will need help with. I have a feeling that once he gets those 2 things down, he is going to make a wonderful, loyal, and loving family dog. What a sunny Sonny disposition! Good luck!
I walked Sonny today. He’s a really sweet dog, but definitely has the energy of a young dog and of a terrier breed. He would probably do well with another dog to show him the ropes or a patient owner who can train him well. He was really picking things up quickly when I was walking with and working with him today. He seems very smart and eager to learn and please his humans.
Sonny…he is singularly gets the “Most Enthusiastic Dog” award!! What a love he is. ( frankly, I almost did not recognize him from his pix,,,he is even cuter in person…and ears are not as large as look in this pic). From the second I took him out of his crate, he just bowled me over with love,,,he would just let me pet him forever, then, if someone else came over to say hi to him, he would show them the same enthusiastic response. Now, pls don’t think I say “enthusiastic” as a euphemism for “Hyperactive”, because he is NOT hyper,,,just so very happy and WANTS to be with people. He walked beautifully, did not bark, did great with other pups. He does, jump, but, though I USUALLY redirect that, I just couldn’t with him,,,he just wanted to be petted and loved so much, that his enthusiasm just filled me with joy, and I had to give him pets and kisses …because,,,how could you NOT do that for this angel. (Working on that with basic training will come soon enough and will be easy to accomplish with this little smarty) His markings are adorable, he has a cute little black “island” on his forehead, then a cute black spot by the base of his tail. I hope someone reads this and runs to meet Sonny, he is simply charming, loving and joy-filled. WHoever adopts him will get nothing but unbridled love, and faithfulness from this young sweetheart!
