Tony-PENDING

This wonderful boy is Tony, a 7-8 year-old Beagle mix who has had a hard life. He was found as a stray and taken to the local shelter. Not surprisingly, he wasn’t claimed there so made the trip to Canine Lifeline so he could get lots of TLC in a foster home while searching for a new person or family who will give him another chance at a happy life. Tony arrived at the shelter with horrible ear and skin infections which had gone untreated for a long time. His left ear is scarred and thickened from previous hematomas due to continual scratching at his infected ear. The hair loss on his body is likely due to an untreated flea allergy and secondary bacterial and fungal skin infections. We’re happy to report though that Tony is now on the mend and feeling so much better. He has received treatment for his ear infections and is on twice weekly medicated baths as well as oral anti-fungal and antibiotics for his skin. His skin already feels much softer and more supple and the hair is starting to grow back. Now that he’s feeling better, Tony’s true personality is starting to emerge and he is a really fun little guy! Tony loves other dogs and tries to engage everyone he meets in play. He’s got lots of spunk for a senior so is eager to make up for lost time now that he feels so much better. Tony has excellent crate manners and may be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee it. We discovered that he will eagerly sit and shake hands for a treat so someone must have cared for Tony at some point in his life. We just have no idea how he fell on such hard times. Tony has lots of love to share with a new family who can see the beauty in this ‘diamond in the rough’ boy. He promises to be your best friend and is eager to make the next chapter of his life the very best! Tony weighs about 30 pounds and his adoption fee is $200. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Tony. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
