If you love Labs, you are definitely going to want to meet Tucker. This sweet 3 year-old boy looks to us like a Lab/Boxer mix male and what a gem he is! He found himself at a high-kill county dog shelter right before Christmas and was facing euthanasia in the overcrowded shelter. Fortunately, a neighboring humane society pulled him to save his life and then contacted us for help with him. This boy arrived at the shelter VERY underweight so it looks like he had either been on his own for awhile or neglected in his previous home. He is working on putting on another 10 pounds or so in his foster home. Fortunately, he has a great appetite so he should reach his ideal weight without too much trouble. Everyone who has met Tucker has commented on what a NICE dog he is, including our vet. Tucker does great with other dogs and is kind, gentle, and loving with all people that he meets. He likes to lean against his human friends when he’s out for a walk and would likely enjoy being a lap dog as well. He keeps his crate spotless although he would much prefer to be out and not crated. We can’t say for sure that he’s housetrained but with some supervision, he should pick up the house rules very quickly. Tucker was very stoic and serious in front of the camera so you will have to meet him to see what a sweet boy he is! Tucker weighs about 56 pounds currently but is working on gaining about 10 to be at his ideal weight. His adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Tucker. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
Tucker-ADOPTED!
Posted in: Adopted!
Tucker is my foster dog. He is such a beautiful dog. He isn’t treat motivated so training will be a little more of a challenge but does love affection. He can do sit / paw / down but definitely on his own terms. He takes treats very gently. He was great with all the dogs and puppies that we met this weekend. Some were intimidated by his size but he was so gentle with all. He is not a fan of getting in the car but once in the car and seat belted in, he laid down in the back of my SUV. He does not like getting into his cage. We are working on having both doors open so he can walk thru it or put his toy inside and he quickly will go in and rescue it. He makes all night with no accidents; so he should be a quick learn to house training. He does like to be touching his grown up at night time. He played with his foster sister – they ran, played, wrestled and quickly settled in for quiet time. With time and patience, he will be an awesome dog for someone’s forever home.
I am in love with Tucker. He is such a gentle giant. He was so gentle with all dogs (even the puppy). He walked great on a leash. He did a little pulling but with a little training, he will be a wonderful walking buddy with someone. I tossed a ball and he meandered over and brought it back and dropped it at my feet. After a little bit of play time, he leaned up against me to get some attention. Definitely, prefers getting attention over playing but that might change when he finds his forever home and is confident that he is home. Looking forward to spending more time with Tucker until he finds his right family.
I met Tucker today, he is the sweetest dog. He’s very gentle despite his size. Tucker met quite a few dogs today including one excited puppy and Tucker was patient and friendly.
Tucker is amazing!
Tucker is a really wonderful dog. I met him when we were taking his photos (above) and he is so impressive. He is a big boy but he is so gentle and sweet. He happily sat on the bench and he loved being held and hugged.
This very good boy apparently did not have an easy life before he came to Canine Lifeline – and yet, he is trusting and eager to please anyone he meets.
Tucker deserves to enjoy the comfort and security of being a truly LOVED dog. He is hoping that a wonderful, kind family will finally give him a loving home.
